How to Build a Poker Table

A nice poker table can cost you a lot of money when purchased at retail. If you are serious about poker or just want a place to play with friends, it is worthwhile to invest a little extra to get a quality table. Building a poker table is not as difficult as you might think, and it can be done for much less than the price of a new table. The following article will discuss how to build a poker table and the materials needed.

Before beginning, it is a good idea to gather the required tools and materials. This will save time and confusion down the road. Also, make sure that you have a large enough area to work. You do not want to have to move the project around while working.

The best way to begin this project is to search online for a poker table plan. There are several different plans available, and some are more complicated than others. The original plans found here are incredibly detailed and contain technical drawings, material lists, and step-by-step instructions with photos. This site has a huge community of people who have built tables from these plans, and there are many forums for anyone to ask questions.

Once you have the materials and tools, start by assembling the table frame. This is a simple job, and should only take about 10 minutes. Make sure that you use 1″ screws to attach the rails and legs. This will give your poker table more strength and stability.

Next, we need to prepare the table top and padded rail. To do this, we need to remove the outer octagon from the second piece of plywood that we cut. Then we need to draw an arc on each side of the sheet, as shown in the picture below. We will then cut these arcs out with the jig saw. The first arc will become the base of the rail, and the other arc will be the base of the table top.

Finally, we need to upholster the rail. To do this, we need to apply some spray adhesive to the inside of the octagon, and then lay in a layer of 1/4 ” closed cell foam. We need to work out any air bubbles. After we have a layer in place, we need to staple it to the vinyl. Once we have the vinyl in place, we can trim off any excess.

After that, we need to re-attach the outer octagon to the top of the table. To do this, we need to drill the 3-5/8″ holes for the cup holders. After this is finished, we can put the padded rail back on and screw it in place. Then we can add the cup holders and we’re done! The best part is that your table will look much better than a dinky poker table that you bought at a garage sale. And you’ll have a great conversation piece to boot!
